Information and Documentation Centre
From 2009 onwards, the Monastery of Santa Maria da Vitória opened to the public an Information and Documentation Centre (IDC), consisting of a library, two archives and a multi-purpose room. The IDC is situated on the upper floor of the east wing of the Cloister of King Afonso V.
The library contains monographs, periodicals and archival material about the history, architecture, sculpture, stained glass, landscape and region of the Monastery, as well as the preservation, conservation, restoration and rehabilitation of monuments and historical centres.
Within the two archives can firstly be found the Public Works fund concerning the 18th century restoration of the Monastery of Batalha, and, secondly, the vast collection of scale models and stained glass, mosaic and tile templates from the Workshop of Ricardo Leone, which is part of the permanent collection of the Chiado Museum at the Monastery of Saint Maria da Vitória.
The multi-purpose room at the IDC is used to host conferences, workshops, activities for children, multimedia presentations and exhibitions.
